Karantinata Camp

The area known as Karantinata (“The Quarantine”), located in Varna’s Asparuhovo district, takes its name from the past, when sailors arriving at the port with suspected contagious diseases were isolated here during a mandatory quarantine period. Later, the site became home to Bulgaria’s first sea sanatorium, founded in July 1905 by Dr. M. Rusev, using the former Varna quarantine barracks.

Today, Karantinata has been transformed into a modern and attractive coastal zone. The area features new infrastructure, including a fisherman’s village, floating pontoons for boats, and a spacious seaside pedestrian promenade, making it a popular place for walks and relaxation by the sea.

Karantinata is part of Asparuhov Park, which covers 400 decares and is often referred to as Varna’s second Sea Garden. Each August, the beach hosts theInternational Short Film Festival “The Quarantine”, a unique platform for young filmmakers and cultural exchange.

Just 7 km south of Varna’s city center and only 200 meters from the seashore, Camping Karantinata is set within a 4-acre wooded area, offering natural shade and coolness during the summer months. The campsite provides 20 designated caravan spaces, combining comfort with a peaceful natural environment.
